    Pregnancy Term & Due Date

Pregnancy refers to the period—typically around 9 months—during which one or more offspring develop inside a woman. Childbirth usually occurs approximately 38 weeks after conception or 40 weeks after the last menstrual period (LMP). According to the World Health Organization, a full-term pregnancy typically ranges between 37 and 42 weeks.

During a person’s first OB-GYN visit, the estimated due date is often determined via ultrasound or based on the LMP. Our Pregnancy Calculator provides accurate estimates using the due date, last period, conception date, ultrasound date, or IVF transfer date.

Note: While due dates provide a useful estimate, only 4% of births occur exactly on the due date. About 60% happen within a week, and 90% within two weeks of the estimated date.

    Pregnancy Detection

    • Home Pregnancy Tests: Detect hCG hormone in urine, available over-the-counter
    • Clinical Tests (Blood or Urine): Detect pregnancy 6–8 days after fertilization, offering more accuracy

Common early symptoms include a missed period, fatigue, nausea, and increased urination.
